Saanich Police are looking for several men they say were involved in an alleged sexual assault on the campus of the University of Victoria on Saturday, September 26.

Officers described the suspects as "unidentified males."

"Generally the campus is a very safe place," said Sgt. Andy Stuart. He says, to his knowledge, this is one of the first reports of sexual assault whereby the suspects were unidentifiable and completely unknown.

Police aren't releasing just how many men were involved in the alleged attack but say it is between one and five.

The victim — who police say lives on campus — did not sustain significant injuries and did not require medical treatment

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident, which took place in the early morning hours, to contact Saanich Police.

The alleged assault comes shortly after a sexualized violence awareness week on campus.

UVic Campus Security released a safety bulletin as a result of the incident.

Saanich Police are expected to provide an update on the case on Monday.
