John McCurrach, owner of Purity Feeds, says he's selling more rat traps than ever before.
"I think we're seeing a population explosion right now," said McCurrach.
Rat reports first started spiking in Kamloops last month, something that may have been related to ripening fruit and vegetable gardens.
But as the weather gets colder, rats will look to move indoors, seeking a warm and protected place to nest and reproduce.
"Rats love to hide in piles of wood and lumber. If you have campers or RVs or trailers, make sure they're above ground, jacked up, so rats and mice can't get in," advised McCurrach.
