The search for a man believed missing near Sumas Mountain has been suspended for now.

The search began after police located a 1995 Green Dodge Ram belonging to 47-year-old Earl Olson on Thursday evening.

"The search now has been suspended," said Central Fraser Valley Search and Rescue (CFVSAR) search manager Lee Holeczek.

"It won't be resumed unless we receive further information that it was Mr.Olson who drove the vehicle up on the mountain."

The missing man has not been in contact with his friends for three days and Abbotsford B.C. police continue to investigate.

Olson's vehicle was found abandoned in Sumas Mountain Inter-Regional Park and police were initially concerned that Olson may not be prepared for the cold weather and terrain in the area.

Yesterday 22 CFVSAR members searched the park, but found no sign of the man.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Abbotsford Police at 604-859-5225.
