2nd person dies in B.C. shooting
Mounties in southeastern B.C. say a man critically wounded in a targeted shooting in Cranbrook on Saturday morning has died.
Police were called to a house just outside Cranbrook, a small city located about 500 kilometres east of Vancouver in B.C.'s Kootenay region, near the B.C.-Alberta border.
Officers found a woman dead and a man critically wounded. The man was taken to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital where he died.
The two victims have been identified as Leanne Laura MacFarlane, 43, and Jeffrey Todd Taylor, 42.
Police want to speak with two people who several witnesses say were seen walking along the side of the road in the area. Police say they were dressed in camouflage gear and were seen in an area known to residents as the Hayshed, near a rest stop and a small pond.
Police say the investigation is still in its early stages, but early indications are that this appears to have been a targeted incident.
However, police say it's possible the victims may not have been the intended targets.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Cranbrook RCMP detachment at 250-489-3471 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
