The hosts of the Legacy Awards, airing Sunday, Sept. 25, play Jam or Not a Jam.

Canada has a new award show. CBC Music caught up with actors Shamier Anderson and Stephan James ahead of the inaugural Legacy Awards, which aim to honour established and emerging Black Canadian talent, from musicians to athletes, and everyone in between. Anderson and James will split hosting duties for the event on Sunday, Sept. 25, at History in Toronto.

The two brothers co-founded the Black Academy (an offshoot of their non-profit, B.L.A.C.K.) to be an "organization that operates at the intersection of Black popular culture and social justice." It's the organizing body behind the Legacy Awards, which will feature live performances from Jully Black, Deborah Cox, Kardinall Offishall and Savannah Ré, in addition to special award presentations and tributes to laudable Black Canadians.

In this edition of Jam or Not a Jam, Anderson and James react to songs from a couple of the Legacy Awards performers. Watch the video above to find out which song by a fellow Scarborough native they think is "legendary" and which song they deem "a jam for the grown folks."

The Legacy Awards will air on CBC and CBC Gem on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, at 8 p.m. (9 p.m. AT/9:30 p.m. NT).
