After several interviews in which Neil Young suggested he may never tour again due to environmental concerns, the Canadian singer-songwriter made his first headlining performance in almost four years at Light up the Blues, a fundraising event held in Los Angeles, which was organized by Stephen Stills and his wife, Kristen Stills, to benefit Autism Speaks.

On April 22, Young appeared at the Greek Theatre to perform an 11-song set that included hits "Heart of Gold" and "Comes a Time." He was also joined by Stephen Stills for a few Buffalo Springfield songs and to pay tribute to the late David Crosby, their bandmate from Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Young and Stills played the band's 1970 song "Helpless," which you can watch below.

Their other former bandmate, Graham Nash, was unable to attend due to a scheduled concert in Munhall, Pa., but appeared via a video message where he said, according to Rolling Stone: "David was my best friend for almost 50 years. I'm going to miss him terribly in my life."

While this was Young's first time headlining on a big stage since 2019, he did surprise protesters at an old-growth logging protest rally in Victoria back in February, where he performed a few acoustic songs for the crowd. Young is scheduled to perform next at an event celebrating Willie Nelson's birthday on April 29 and 30 at the Hollywood Bowl.
