Walk off the Earth has returned with their first new song of the year, titled "Mike's Song." The track, as the band explained in a Twitter post, is a tribute to keyboardist Mike "Beard Guy" Taylor who died last December from natural causes in his sleep.

"The loss of a friend can be an incredibly sad and confusing time," the band wrote. "Writing this song in tribute to Beard Guy was such a therapeutic process for us. It made us realize how thankful we are for the moments we had together. We love you Mike. This one's for you."

The track is a heartfelt acoustic number and its chorus, led by singers Sarah Blackwood and Gianni Luminati, goes: "Hey, I know you'll always be with me/ but I can't shake the heartache/ even if the day don't break/ it's gonna be okay."

In January, Walk off the Earth held a memorial concert in their hometown of Burlington, Ont., to honour Taylor. The event included tributes and performances from members of Arkells, Barenaked Ladies, Monster Truck, Saint Alvia, Scott Helman, USS and the Dare Nots. You can re-watch the full concert here.
