The Weeknd has broken a new record: his hit "Blinding Lights" just became the most-streamed song on Spotify, according to the music-streaming service.

The track has amassed more than 3.335 billion streams, and according to Forbes has overtaken Ed Sheeran's song "Shape of You," which previously held the record. Sheeran's track is currently at 3.333 billion streams.

The Weeknd first released "Blinding Lights" in 2019 as the lead single from his 2020 album, After Hours. The upbeat song previously made history in 2020, when it held the Guinness World Record for the biggest-selling digital single that year. He broke that record again in 2021 with "Save Your Tears," which currently holds the top spot.

The Weeknd is currently gearing up to celebrate the one-year anniversary of his 2022 album, Dawn FM, by releasing a music video for his track "Is There Someone Else?" on Jan. 7.
