Sarah McLachlan 'devastated' to cancel Canadian tour due to acute laryngitis
The singer-songwriter needs an "undetermined amount of vocal rest" to fully recover
Sarah McLachlan is cancelling her Canadian tour to focus on recovering from acute laryngitis.
The singer-songwriter says she's "heartbroken" to drop the dates but says she's been told she needs vocal rest to fully recover.
"My voice is not recovering as it should and on the advice of my ENT specialist, I will need an undetermined amount of vocal rest to be able to fully recover and not risk permanent damage to my vocal cords," she posted on Instagram. "Thank you to everyone holding tickets for your patience while we were working to reschedule, I'm truly devastated to have to cancel."
McLachlan had earlier postponed the Canadian leg of the Fumbling Towards Ecstasy 30th anniversary tour, which celebrates her third studio album. Thirteen shows had been scheduled, starting Nov. 1 in Rama, Ont., and wrapping up in Victoria on Nov. 20.
McLachlan announced last month that she had laryngitis as she cancelled shows in the United States. She was mid-tour during the postponement and then cancellation, having already played dates in Vancouver and Montreal earlier this year.
The singer-songwriter, who was born in Nova Scotia and has called B.C. home for decades, was inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame on Sept. 28 this year. Canada Post also revealed a commemorative stamp that same month.
