Neil Young puts 2019 tour plans aside to focus on 15 new film projects

Fans may have to wait until 2020 to see Neil Young live in concert. 

The Canadian singer-songwriter has announced that he is postponing plans for a 2019 tour in order to focus on a slew of incomplete film projects. In a new post on Neil Young Archives, Young says he and his team are "combing through and completing" 15 ongoing projects.

A number of them appear to mine footage from old tours that Young and Crazy Horse did, including Silver and Gold, which follows Young's 1999 solo acoustic tour, and Solo Trans, which was Young's one-man show in 1983. There will also be an animated film called Trans 2020, which will use the music of Young's 1982 album, Trans. 

Earlier this year, Young revealed in another Archives post that he had completed a new Crazy Horse album (scheduled to come out later this year) and had plans to take it on the road. The album will be the group's first album since 2012's Psychedelic Pill and, as Young described, is "one of the most diverse albums I have ever made and I can't wait for you to hear it." These most recent recording sessions will also be transformed into a film called Colorado, which is one of the 15 announced projects. 

While there are no release dates for these films, Young assures that he and his team are "gathering the work of a lifetime for you to enjoy at the Hearse Theatre and beyond." 

For the remainder of the year, Young is still scheduled to play the Harvest Moon — A Gathering charity show in Lake Hughes, Calif., on Sept. 14 and Farm Aid in East Troy, Wis., on Sept. 21. 

"Thanks for coming to our shows!" Young concluded in his post. "We plan to be back in 2020!"
