Moneyphone wants to know: do you have 'Faith'?
On its newest mixtape, the young pop duo explores its foundations of friendship and community
Moneyphone is a Toronto-based pop band made up of high school pals Eno Ncube and David May. They moved to Toronto together to go to university, initially working on musical projects individually and eventually teaming up as Moneyphone and building a vibrant, supportive community.
Moneyphone's latest release is called Faith, but rather than exploring the word's religious connotations, Ncube and May use the word to describe the faith they have in each other and their community.
In this episode of CBC Music's The Intro, Moneyphone performs the title track from Faith, as well as "Dashboard," and Ncube and May chat with CBC Music Mornings host Saroja Coelho about their music. Watch it above.
CBC Music's The Intro brings essential emerging Canadian talent to the world. Episodes are released weekly on CBC Gem, CBC Music's YouTube channel and here on cbc.ca/music. Listen to performances from The Intro Wednesday on CBC Music Mornings, Thursday on Shift and Friday on Drive.
