As part of our coverage of the 2020 Juno Awards, CBC Music is inviting some of today's hottest Canadian acts to cover a past winner in the single of the year category.

Bachman-Turner Overdrive's "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" won the award at the 1976 Junos, after having reached No. 1 on the US Top 100 charts.

At this year's Juno Awards, Dundas, Ont., rock outfit the Dirty Nil are vying for a win in the rock album of the year category, so it's fitting that they chose the upbeat rock classic and added their signature punk flare.

"Usually we stray from the path a lot when it comes to rearranging covers — but this one, it's a pretty lean and mean song," lead singer Luke Bentham told CBC Music during the session.

"The chorus speaks for itself. We can't really improve much upon it," he added.

Despite taking on such a beloved hit, the three-piece band wasn't intimidated.

"We cover 'We are the Champions' by Queen, so we are 100 per cent willing to tread upon sacred ground, and smash it into bits."
