'She is a powerful force': Sarah McLachlan tapped to host 2019 Juno Awards
The 9-time Juno winner will take the stage for the March 17 broadcast
Spend all your time waiting (for that second chance) and the Junos will deliver: the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) just announced that Sarah McLachlan will host the 2019 Juno Awards in London, Ont.
"I'm humbled I've been asked to host the 48th annual Juno Awards," McLachlan said via statement. "I know intimately what it feels like to be on the Juno stage, and I feel truly blessed to play a new role for an organization that has supported me throughout my career."
McLachlan was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during the 2017 Junos, and has sold more than 40 million albums since beginning her career in the late '80s. McLachlan's 2016 album, Wonderland, was nominated for a 2017 Grammy Award — and won the Juno that same year. In total, McLachlan has won nine Junos (and been nominated for 26), and three Grammys (nominated for eight).
"Sarah is perfect to host our show," said Allan Reid, president and CEO of CARAS, the Juno Awards and MusiCounts. "It has been a privilege to watch Sarah's career soar over the last three decades. She is a powerful force within the music industry and beyond, and we're thrilled to have her onboard to help us deliver another unforgettable Juno Awards."
In addition to the host reveal, CARAS also announced that German-Canadian artist Bülow will join Corey Hart and Loud Luxury as a performer during the broadcast.
Wherever you are on March 17, you can watch the Juno Awards broadcast live from Budweiser Gardens in London, Ont., at cbcmusic.ca/junos.
