Jeremy Dutcher announces Canadian orchestra tour for Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa
He'll perform his Juno-winning album in six cities across the country starting this fall
Jeremy Dutcher, who won the 2019 Juno Award for Indigenous album of the year, is again touring his award-winning Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa this year — but this time with orchestras in the six cities where he'll be performing.
"This orchestra tour means so much to me. It sews together two musical halves of myself," Dutcher said via press release. "A tour like this would not have been possible just one generation ago, and I am honoured to bring our sounds into the concert hall and give them the treatment their beauty commands."
The tour begins on Sept. 27 in Kitchener, Ont., with Winnipeg, Halifax, Regina, Calgary and Saskatoon also on the tour date list, which goes through to November. Dutcher will be partnering with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Symphony Nova Scotia, Regina Symphony Orchestra, Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra during the tour.
Dutcher also won the 2018 Polaris Prize for Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa. Watch him accept that award, as well as his Juno, below.
