CBC Music's The Block has teamed up with Manifesto — the festival of music, arts and culture — for The Block Party, a live concert experience celebrating 50 years of hip-hop on Friday, Aug. 11. Hit-making rapper Aminé and Canadian rap icon Saukrates will headline the concert at RBC Echo Beach in Toronto.
Starting at 6:15 p.m. local time (7:15 p.m. AT, 7:45 p.m. NT) CBC Music and CBC Listen will livestream performances from The Block Party, hosted by JJ LaBorde. Tune in to hear live performances from the Block Stage including Temia, Vince the Messenger, Clairmont the Second, Phoenix Pagliacci, Keysha Freshh and Saukrates.
Rounding out the bill on the Manifesto stage will be Canadian artists Kuruza, Skiifall, Sadboi, Liza, No Tourists, Eb3n and Eleanor. If you would like to attend the event in-person, tickets are still available on Ticketmaster.
To commemorate hip-hop's anniversary, The Block has been airing 50 stories over 50 days that focus on significant artists, events and moments in hip-hop history. The 50 stories will air nationwide each night on The Block until Aug. 11 to coincide with The Block Party.
