How to tune in to the 2024 Polaris Music Prize shortlist announcement
Find out which 10 albums will be vying for the title of best Canadian album of the year
The Polaris Music Prize will announce its 2024 short list on Thursday, July 11, starting at 3 p.m. local time (4 p.m. AT/4:30 p.m. NT) during a special broadcast airing on CBC Music and CBC Listen.
Hosted by Damhnait Doyle, the Polaris Short List Special will reveal one nominee every 12 minutes along with music from the nominated albums and insight from Polaris jurors.
The 10 albums shortlisted for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize are drawn from a long list of 40 albums, selected by a panel of 207 Canadian jurors (including several CBC Music producers). The long list was revealed on June 11 and includes albums from the Beaches, Tobi, Elisapie, Beverly Glenn-Copeland, Kaytraminé, Allison Russell and Charlotte Cardin. See the full list here.
Short List Summer
The announcement of the short list kicks off Short List Summer, CBC Music's in-depth coverage of the 2024 Polaris Music Prize. This includes The Ten, a 10-episode radio show, hosted by Odario Williams, featuring discussion about the shortlisted albums with music writers and Polaris jurors from around the country, along with a deep album listening session. The Ten airs Sundays at 6 p.m. (6:30 p.m. NL) starting July 14.

The 2024 Polaris Music Prize winner will be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at a live event taking place at Toronto's Massey Hall. Tickets to the Polaris Gala are available now.
