Charlotte Cardin will be honoured as the Global Woman of the Year at the 2025 Billboard Women in Music event later this month.

The Montreal-born artist released her last album, 99 Nights, in 2023, which won her two Juno Awards, including pop album and album of the year.

In 2024, Cardin was the first Canadian artist to be named Woman of the Year by Billboard Women in Music. Previous artists to receive the award include Taylor Swift, Béyonce, Madonna, Billie Eilish, SZA and Karol G.

Known for hits including Confetti and Meaningless, Cardin keeps the momentum going with a second award from Billboard, even before releasing a new album.

"In a world where [authenticity and self-acceptance] are so important to our personal growth, they are also very often overlooked," said Cardin at last year's event, when presenting the Icon Award to Alanis Morissette.

More stars set to be celebrated include this year's woman of the year, Doechii, as well aespa, Ángela Aguilar, Erykah Badu, Glorilla, Gracie Abrams, Jennie, Megan Moroney, Meghan Trainor, Muni Long, Tyla and Laverne Cox. The event will be held in Los Angeles on March 29.
