On Saturday night, Foo Fighters headlined Japan's Fuji Rock music festival and brought out special guest Alanis Morissette to help pay tribute to the late Sinéad O'Connor. Together, they performed a cover of "Mandinka," a track off O'Connor's 1987 debut album, The Lion and the Cobra

O'Connor died on July 26 after being found unresponsive in her London home. Following her death, many musicians paid tribute to her, including Canadian acts Tegan and Sara, Bryan Adams and Ron Sexsmith. Rolling Stone also noted O'Connor's influence on singers in the '90s such as Sarah McLachlan and Morissette, who said O'Connor's music was "really moving for me, and very inspiring, before I wrote Jagged Little Pill."

The last time Foo Fighters and Morissette shared the stage was at last year's tribute concerts for the band's drummer, Taylor Hawkins, who died on March 25, 2022. Prior to playing with Foo Fighters, Hawkins performed in Morissette's band.
