Hosted by CBC Music's Damhnait Doyle, this bi-weekly series showcases talented emerging artists across the country from various genres. Each episode highlights one band or artist, and includes a live performance and enlightening conversation about the music.
After only a handful of seasons, The Intro has become a demonstrated barometer for new Canadian talent, nabbing appearances from the country's most exciting new stars in their earliest stages before they go on to receive widespread critical acclaim and awards.
After their Intro episode, rapper DijahSB's CBC Music performance was co-signed by rap megastar Kid Cudi, and they also went on to be shortlisted for the coveted Polaris Music Prize along with fellow past Intro guests Zoon and the OBGMs. JJ Wilde, Sammy Jackson, TÖME and Okan all received Juno Award wins following their appearances on The Intro, while several other past guests received nominations.
