Taureans love luxury, but not in a showy way. They're constantly seeking comfort and pleasure and the very best of life — they're ruled by Venus, the planet that governs love, beauty and money. To them, luxury is anything that brings ease and alleviates stress, and maybe that perfect de-stresser is an expensive handmade candle from France.

To keep up with all that indulgence, they work hard for their money. Like the other earth signs (Capricorn and Virgo), they're diligently devoted to work and derive a lot of their personal worth from performing well in their careers.

As a fixed sign, Taureans are dependable, loyal and grounded, but that same influence also makes them reticent to change. Once they're set in their ways, it's nearly impossible to sway them. Apologies for the cliché, but they are truly stubborn as a bull.

Not the most emotionally forthcoming sign, Taureans take a long time to warm up to new people. That doesn't mean the feelings aren't there; just that they have to be absolutely sure before they let any of their cards show. But once they're locked in, a Taurus friend or lover will be a solid rock for you to depend on forever, and the endless pampering doesn't hurt either.

CBC Life astrologer Bryanna Collier says that during Taurus season we are "invited to indulge our senses and ground ourselves in life's little pleasures."

Explore the cozy, sensual and self-assured energy of this earth sign with these five songs.

'Let My Baby Stay,' Mac DeMarco

All Taureans are certified lover boys (in a gender-neutral sense) at heart. "Let My Baby Stay" is a ballad by Mac DeMarco, a Taurus himself, that shows off the sweet and tender side that this sign doesn't always let people see. Written when his girlfriend was at risk of being deported, "Let My Baby Stay" is an achingly beautiful ode to the love he has for her. The opening line remains etched in my mind: "I was made to love her, been working at it/ half of my life, I've been an addict."

'You're not Alone,' Allison Russell feat. Brandi Carlile

Whenever you're in a crisis or spiralling, a Taurus is the perfect person to bring you back to Earth and help you see the way out of your predicament. The entirety of this song echoes Taureans' inherent protectiveness and desire to put everyone else at ease. As Russell sings: "Wish that I could keep you from/ sorrow and harm/ none of us is here for long/ but you're not alone."

'Taurus,' River Tiber

Stubborn, hard-headed, tenacious — whatever you want to call the trait, it's hard to get a Taurus to change their mind, and this aptly named track is devoted to that kind of persistence. As River Tiber sings in the chorus: even in death, his mind won't be changed.

'Lottery,' Latto feat. Lu Kala

Taureans love the finer things in life, but they never wait around for someone else to give them what they can get themselves. They know they're the prize and, just like Latto and Lu Kala, they want someone who knows that dating them is like winning the lottery.

'Solid,' Savannah

Taurus is a sign that needs its groundedness and dependability reciprocated at all times. They thrive when their bonds are long-lasting and unshakeable, a sentiment echoed in Savannah Ré's "Solid." The chorus may as well be the official Taurus theme song: "I need you to be solid/ promise, promise/ that you won't bend or break/ promise to me that you'll stay."
