A security guard who was critically injured after a shooting outside Canadian rap star Drake's Toronto mansion last week is now in stable condition, police say.
Officers were called to the property on on Park Lane Circle on May 7, shortly after 2 a.m. ET, after a security guard had been shot near a gate in front of the property in an apparent drive-by shooting.
"He was shot from a vehicle which then fled the scene," the Toronto Police Service said in a media release at the time.
A police source previously told CBC News that the security guard suffered a gunshot wound to the upper chest and was unconscious when officers arrived. He was taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery, according to the source.
On Tuesday, police spokesperson Const. Laurie McCann confirmed to CBC News that the victim is now in stable condition.

Investigators previously said they couldn't confirm whether Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, was home at the time of the shooting. The man who was shot has not been identified and Drake has not spoken publicly about the incident.
Toronto police Insp. Paul Krawczyk previously told reporters that a suspect or suspects involved in the shooting fled the scene in a vehicle, adding that police are continuing to review video footage. One week after the incident, investigators have not yet released any suspect images or description.
Drake is currently embroiled in a number of high-profile feuds with other rappers and musical artists. The most notable is an ongoing dispute with the California rapper Kendrick Lamar, which hit a fever pitch two weeks ago as both released multiple tracks that levelled unsubstantiated allegations and insults at each other.
Krawczyk previously told reporters that he was aware of the conflict, but it was too early to speculate on a motive for the shooting.
