Male airlifted to hospital after shooting in Kitchener's south end

Police were called to the area of Green Valley Drive and Mill Park Drive around 12:40 p.m.

A male has been airlifted to hospital after a shooting in Kitchener's south end.
Police say they were called to the area of Green Valley Drive and Mill Park Drive Tuesday afternoon for reports of an injured person.
"At approximately 12:40 p.m. we received a phone call from an individual who had located a male on a trail in the area Green Valley Drive in Kitchener. Upon arrival our officers located a male with injuries that were consistent with a gunshot wound," Waterloo Regional Police Services spokesperson Cherri Greeno told CBC News.
Ornge, the province's air ambulance service, confirmed to CBC they transported a patient with a gunshot wound to a trauma centre.

Greeno said because it was still early in the investigation, there were few details immediately available, including any suspect descriptions.
She added it's expected there will be added police presence in the area as officers investigate, including the canine unit. Access to Mill Park Drive from Green Valley Drive was closed.
"We are asking anyone with information or anyone who may have seen any anything suspicious or any vehicles in the area to please contact us," Greeno said.
