Lt.-Col. Jonathan Conricus said the Israeli airstrike strike that hit the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza targeted and killed a senior Hamas leader. When asked by CBC's David Cochrane about civilian casualties, Conricus accused Hamas of using civilian buildings as cover for militants and said Israel has warned civilians in northern Gaza for weeks to evacuate the area.
