Get your tickets for The Block Party: a concert celebrating 50 years of hip-hop

CBC Music's The Block(external link) has teamed up with Manifesto(external link) — the festival of music, arts and culture — for The Block Party, a live concert experience celebrating 50 years of hip-hop on Friday, Aug. 11. Hit-making rapper Aminé and Canadian rap icon Saukrates will headline the concert at RBC Echo Beach in Toronto.
Tickets for Manifesto Presents: The Block Party go on sale to the public on Thursday, June 15 at 10 a.m. EST via Ticketmaster(external link). The CBC Music presale is Wednesday, June 14 at 10 a.m. and the password is: THEBLOCK.
To mark hip-hop's historic milestone, concertgoers will be able to see live performances from rappers, DJs and more across two stages. The Manifesto stage (hosted by The Relentless Diaries podcast(external link) team) will feature rising Toronto musicians, including Kuruza, Skiifall, Sadboi, Liza, No Tourists, Eben and Eleanor, while The Block Stage (hosted by CBC Music's Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe) will showcase Canadian rappers including Keysha Freshh, Phoenix Pagliacci, Temia, Vince the Messenger and Clairmont the Second.
Beginning Aug. 7, Manifesto will have a week of programming leading up to The Block Party, starting with the Music Summit, which includes music panel discussions and workshops. On Aug. 12, a free admission Block Party will take place at Toronto's Yonge and Dundas Square with additional live music performances, dancing, a hip-hop photo exhibition and more.
Last week, The Block kicked off the countdown to hip-hop's anniversary by starting to air 50 stories over 50 days that focus on significant artists, events and moments in hip-hop history. The 50 stories will air nationwide each night on The Block on CBC Music until Aug. 11.
