Heavy snow, high winds cause delays, cancellations across N.S.

Central Nova Scotia, including Halifax, hit with upwards of 30 centimetres of snow
Most of Nova Scotia is digging out from a winter storm that dumped around 30 centimetres of snow in some areas.
Nearly all of the weather warnings across the province have ended following a nor'easter that brought heavy snow and gusty winds.
Snowfall warnings are still in place for Yarmouth and Shelburne counties with 15 centimetres of snow expected to fall on Saturday.
Central Nova Scotia saw some of the heaviest snowfall, with totals of up to 30 centimetres.
Several school boards across the province announced cancellations for Friday.
The regional centres for education for Annapolis Valley, Chignecto-Central, Conseil scolaire acadien provincial, Halifax, South Shore, Strait and Tri-County have cancelled classes for the day.
Schools and work sites for the Cape Breton-Victoria Regional Centre for Education delayed opening on Friday. Regional offices and work sites for Chignecto-Central, Halifax, and Strait also delayed opening.
St. Francis Xavier University, Mount Saint Vincent University Dalhousie University, Saint Mary's University and the University of King's College announced delayed openings for Friday. The Nova Scotia Community College announced closures at some of its campuses due to the weather, as well.
Halifax Independent, Halifax Grammar, Armbrae Academy and Sacred Heart closed.
The provincial government says government offices will have delayed openings in the afternoon due to the snow, except for those in Yarmouth, Cape Breton, Inverness, Richmond and Victoria counties, which will open as usual.
Halifax Transit's bus service, ferry service and Access-A-Bus was suspended until mid-morning and several bus routes have enacted their snow plans. Service for the Country Harbour ferry in Guysborough County has been cancelled due to the weather.
The opening of all Canadian Forces Base Halifax locations is delayed, as well, until noon.
The Municipality of the County of Annapolis says its administration building will be closed. As well, the Municipality of the County of Kings and Halifax Regional Municipality will delay the opening of its offices and work sites due to road conditions.
Three emergency shelters have been set up in Halifax, Dartmouth and Lower Sackville and Halifax Search and Rescue are conducting wellness checks on people experiencing homelessness in the region.
