MP Tim Louis thanked police for taking 'swift action'
A 44-year-old Woolwich man was been charged after threats were made against a local member of Parliament, regional police said.
In a statement sent to CBC Kitchener-Waterloo, Kitchener-Conestoga MP Tim Louis said his office reached out to Waterloo Regional Police Service on Feb. 2 "regarding death threats I received."
"An arrest has been made and charges have been laid," he said. Louis thanked police for taking "swift action."
On Feb.3, police said investigators located and arrested a suspect in the case. He has been charged with uttering threats to cause death.
The man is scheduled to appear in court on March 20.
