A second person has been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in the death of a missing Saskatoon woman.
In a news release Monday afternoon, Saskatoon police said Cheyann Crystal Peeteetuce, 29, was arrested at a correctional facility in Prince Albert where she was serving time on an unrelated sentence.
Peeteetuce is expected to appear in Saskatoon provincial court Tuesday morning.
Megan Gallagher was last seen on Sept. 19, 2020, when she left a friend's home in Saskatoon's west end. Her family last saw her the day before at their farm just outside of the city.
A police report was filed on Sept. 30, 2020.
The other person charged with first-degree murder in Gallagher's death, Robert "Bobby" James Thomas, 27 — who was arrested at a home in Prince George, B.C., last week — made his first court appearance by phone Monday morning.
Four more people — John Wayne Sanderson, 44, Roderick Sutherland, 44, Jessica Sutherland, 42, and Ernest Whitehead, 41 — are charged with committing an indignity to human remains in connection with this investigation.
Police said last week they will be searching an area near the south Saskatchewan River for Gallagher's body.
