Novelist Tomi Adeyemi made a huge splash in the world of young adult fantasy fiction when she released her very first novel, Children of Blood and Bone. For almost two years straight, it held the number one spot on the New York Times Young Adult Best Sellers list.
Now, Adeyemi has released Children of Virtue and Vengeance, the second book in the planned trilogy. The series tells the tale of a monarchy and an oppressed minority struggling for control of magic. The books draw on West African myths and the author's own experiences as a Nigerian-American woman.
Returning to q(external link), Adeyemi joined host Tom Power on the line from San Diego to tell us more about the book, scoring a major movie deal, and how she feels about being called "the new J.K. Rowling."
