Planning to get some errands done this Canada Day, and maybe light some fireworks?

Better consult this list of what you can do — and what you can't.

Fireworks rules

Consumer fireworks may only be discharged between Sunday, June 30, and Tuesday, July 2. Fireworks displays must be directly supervised by someone 18 or older, and must take place on private property with the property owner's permission. Minimum safety distances, as indicated on the fireworks product, must be maintained from spectators, buildings and vehicles. The display must not cause danger or nuisance to any person or property.
The sale of consumer fireworks is prohibited in the City of Ottawa, except on Canada Day and the seven business days immediately preceding it.
It is prohibited to sell or use firecrackers in Ontario at all times.

Shopping malls

The Rideau Centre will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 1.
The ByWard Market will be open on Monday, July 1.
Bayshore Shopping Centre, St. Laurent Shopping Centre, Place d'Orléans and Tanger Outlets will be closed.

Groceries

Most grocery stores in the city will be closed on Monday, July 1.

Alcohol and cannabis

All LCBO and Beer Store locations will be closed on Monday, July 1.
Superette will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fire & Flower and Hobo Recreational Cannabis will also be open.

Green bin, recycling and garbage collection

There will be no curbside green bin, recycling or garbage collection on Canada Day. Pickup will take place on Tuesday, July 2. Collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.
Multi-residential garbage containers will be collected on the regular scheduled day. Multi-residential recycling and green bin collection will be delayed by one day for the remainder of the week.

Parking and roads

All City of Ottawa parking regulations and restrictions will apply on Canada Day.
For a complete list of road, bridge and pathway closures, check the Government of Canada's list of street closures.
Free parking will be available at City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave. W. on Monday, July 1. The Laurier Avenue entrance to the parking garage will be closed. You can access the parking garage through the Elgin Street entrance.

Transit service

OC Transpo will offer service at no charge all day on Canada Day on a special holiday schedule with extra service during the day and after the fireworks. O-Train Line 2, the Trillium Line, will run all day until 12:15 a.m. Routes that normally run on Sundays will be in service. The OC Transpo customer service centre at the Rideau Centre will be open on Canada Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The centres at Lincoln Fields, Place d'Orléans and St. Laurent Shopping Centre will be closed.
OC Transpo customer service and information (613-741-4390) will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Para Transpo will offer service at no charge on Canada Day. A holiday service will operate on Monday, July 1. Regular subscription bookings will be automatically cancelled. Customers may book trips for Canada Day by calling 613-244-7272.
Para Transpo Services:

- Trip cancellation and general inquiries (613-244-4636): open from 6 a.m. to 12:30 a.m.
The Société de transport de l'Outaouais (STO) will provide free service on Monday, July 1. For more information visit sto.ca.

Ottawa Public Library

All branches and services of the Ottawa Public Library will be closed on Monday, July 1.
As well, all branches will be closed on Sundays from June 30 to Sept. 1.

Client services

Ottawa City Hall and all seven Client Service Centres, including the Government Service Centre at 110 Laurier Ave. W., will be closed. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday, July 2.
The city's Provincial Offences Court at 100 Constellation Cres., will be closed on Canada Day. Business will resume as usual on Tuesday, July 2.
The city's 311 contact centre will be open for urgent matters that require immediate attention. Call 311 or 613-580-2400 (TTY: 613-580-2401).

Recreation

Some outdoor pools, indoor pools and fitness centres will be open for public swimming, fitness schedules and aquafitness with modified schedules.
All beaches, splash pads and some wading pools will be open, weather permitting.
Most registered programs at swimming pools, community centres and arenas will be cancelled. Clients should check with their facility to confirm, as some exceptions will apply.
City of Ottawa summer camps will not operate on Monday, July 1.

Ottawa Public Health

The Sexual Health Centre and Satellite Clinics will be closed on Monday, July 1.
The SITE mobile van will operate from 5 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Monday, July 1. The office at 179 Clarence St. will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Dental clinics and parenting drop-ins will be closed.
The Ottawa Public Health Information Centre will be closed. You can leave a voicemail message and inquiries will be answered within one business day. For the latest health information, visit ottawapublichealth.ca.

Cultural services

Billings Estate National Historic Site, Pinhey's Point Historic Site and Nepean Museum will offer programming on Canada Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission at Pinhey's Point Historic Site and Nepean Museum will be by donation. Special event pricing will be in place at Billings Estate.
Fairfields Heritage House and the Cumberland Heritage Museum will be closed.
The Karsh-Masson Gallery and Barbara Ann Scott Gallery at City Hall (110 Laurier Ave. W.) will be open on Canada Day. The City Hall Art Gallery will be closed for an installation.

Municipal child care

All municipal child care centres will be closed on Monday, July 1.
