Lisa Moore's Something for Everyone wins 2 prizes at Atlantic Book Awards

Lisa Moore's short story collection Something for Everyone took home the $25,000 Thomas Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award, as well as the Alistair MacLeod Prize for short fiction at the Atlantic Book Awards ceremony.
The Atlantic Book Awards and Festival annually recognize books by Atlantic Canadian writers and publishers. Thirteen prizes, plus a lifetime achievement award, were handed out to close the festival on June 6, 2019 in St. John's, N.L.
Moore's eclectic array of stories examine the timeless, the tragic and the miraculous hidden in the underbelly of everyday lives.
The Newfoundland writer previously won Canada Reads with the novel February and was shortlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize for Caught.
Artist Eva Campbell won the Lillian Shepherd Award for excellence in illustration for her work in the picture book Africville, written by Shauntay Grant. Campbell's award comes with a prize of $500. The book was previously shortlisted for the Governor General's Literary Award for young people's literature — illustration.
Comedian Mark Critch received the Margaret and John Savage First Book Award — Non-Fiction for his memoir Son of a Critch. The This Hour Has 22 Minutes actor's book chronicles his lifetime of light-hearted mischief, beginning with his upbringing in 1980s Newfoundland.
Newfoundlander Tom Dawe was awarded the Pioneer Award. This lifetime achievement recognizes Dawe's contributions to the literary community in Newfoundland, including founding the province's first publisher Breakwater Books.

- Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association Best Atlantic-Published Book Award ($3,000 prize given to publisher, $1,000 for the creators): Saltwater Mittens from the Island of Newfoundland: More than 20 heritage designs to knit by Christine LeGrow and Shirley A. Scott, published by Boulder Books
- Atlantic Book Award for Scholarly Writing ($1,000): There's Something in the Water: Environmental Racism in Indigenous and Black Communities by Ingrid R. G. Waldron
- Democracy 250 Atlantic Book Award for historical writing ($2,000): Where Duty Lies: A New Brunswick Soldier in the Trenches of World War 1 by John Cunningham
- Evelyn Richardson Non-Fiction Award ($2,000): Notes for the Everlost: A Field Guide to Grief by Kate Inglis
- Jim Connors Dartmouth Book Award — Fiction ($2,500): A Circle on the Surface by Carol Bruneau
- J.M. Abraham Poetry Award: This Kind of Thinking Does No Good by Alison Smith
- Margaret and John Savage First Book Award — Fiction ($2,500): In the Wake by Nicola Davison
- The Robbie Robertson Dartmouth Book Award — Non-Fiction ($2,500): The Blind Mechanic: The Amazing Story of Eric Davidson, Survivor of the 1917 Halifax Explosion by Marilyn Davidson Elliott
