Ali Bryan, Mark Critch and Cathal Kelly have been shortlisted for the $15,000 Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour, which celebrates the year's funniest Canadian book.

Bryan is nominated for her novel The Figgs, which follows family matriarch June Figg who longs for peace and quiet, as she deals with her adult childrens' refusal to leave home, a shocking revelation from her husband and the arrival of her newborn grandchild.

Critch is shortlisted for his memoir Son of a Critch, which details the comedian's childhood shenanigans growing up in 1980s Newfoundland.

Kelly's Boy Wonders is a memoir recounting how the sports journalist's fraught family life led him to seek refuge in the games, movies and books that shaped him.

The winner will be announced at a gala dinner at the Leacock Museum on June 8.

Last year's winner was Jennifer Craig for Gone To Pot, a novel about a pot-growing grandmother.

Other past winners include Patrick deWitt, Cassie Stocks and Terry Fallis.
