Mona Awad is an short-story writer, novelist and journalist from Montreal. Her short stories and nonfiction writing has been published in TIME magazine, VICE and The Walrus. Her debut novel 13 Ways of Looking at a Fat Girl won the Amazon Canada First Novel Award and was a shortlisted for the 2016 Scotiabank Giller Prize. The novel follows protagonist Lizzie from adolescence to young adulthood as she struggles with her weight and attempts to navigate relationships with friends, family, men and most importantly — herself.
