Shauntay Grant is a Canadian writer, performance artist, Dalhousie University lecturer and Halifax's third poet laureate. Her children's books include Up Home, winner of the 2009 Best Atlantic Published Book Prize, and most recently Africville, a lyrical picture book exploring Nova Scotia's historic neighbourhood.Grant's poetry has been published in magazines like mirror, the Fieldstone Review and The Great Black North.

Africville is on the 2018 Governor General's Literary Award shortlist for young people's literature — illustrated books.
