30 writers make the 2018 CBC Nonfiction Prize longlist

SEPT. 12, 2018: The 2018 shortlist has been revealed.
Thirty writers have made the longlist for the 2018 CBC Nonfiction Prize. The complete longlist is:

The winner of the 2018 CBC Nonfiction Prize will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts, have their story published on CBC Books and attend a writing residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity. Four finalists will each receive $1,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts and have their story published on CBC Books.
The longlist was selected by a team of writers and editors from across Canada. The 2018 jury, comprised of Scaachi Koul, Graeme Wood and Kyo Maclear, will select the finalists and winner from the longlist.
The shortlist will be announced on Sept. 12, 2018. The winner will be revealed on Sept. 18, 2018.
The longlist was selected from more than 2,000 English language-submissions. There were more than 4,000 submissions in English and French.

The CBC Literary Prizes have been recognizing Canadian writers since 1979. Past winners include Michael Ondaatje, Carol Shields, Michael Winter and Frances Itani.
