Gary Barwin

Gary Barwin is a writer, composer, visual and multidisciplinary artist and the author of 26 books of poetry, fiction and books for children.
His national bestselling novel Yiddish for Pirates won the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour as well as the Canadian Jewish Literary Award (Fiction). It was also a finalist for both the Governor General's Award for Fiction and the Scotiabank Giller Prize. In 2017, he published the poetry collection No TV for Woodpeckers.
His novel Nothing the Same, Everything Haunted won a 2021 Canadian Jewish Literary Award in the fiction category.
A new poetry book, The Most Charming Creatures, is due out in September 2022.
He lives in Hamilton, Ont.
