Anderson was convicted of sexual assault in January
Former Saskatoon nightclub owner Skipp Anderson is going to prison for 30 months for sexually assaulting a young man who had passed out at his home.
A jury found Anderson guilty in January. Justice Ron Mills delivered the sentence this morning at Court of Queen's Bench.
"Bad behaviour draws significant consequences. Your reputation has been severely compromised, as well it should be," Mills said.
The assault happened in Anderson's home on July 11, 2016.
The victim had passed out after drinking heavily at a hot-tub party. He was taken to a spare room to sleep it off but awoke in the middle of the night to find Anderson sexually assaulting him.
Anderson said the man had initiated the sexual activity and consented during it.
But the victim said he was in no position to consent.
Prosecutor Tamara Rock said the case was all about power and consent.
"When someone is incapacitated by alcohol there is no consent available. That's the law, and that's what this case has been about, and that's what the message is going forward," she said.
"When you have a position of power, you have prestige, you may have wealth, and it allows you to take liberties perhaps that are more difficult for a victim to come forward and get past with regard to making a complaint such as this."
Anderson has since sold Pink Lounge and Nightclub.
He will get almost three months' credit for the time he has already spent in custody, leaving him with a net federal sentence of 27 months.
