If you were in Ottawa in the mid-'90s, you might've watched Tom Green on community TV, pranking his parents and humiliating himself on his own sketch show. The Tom Green Show could be crude, it could be infantile, but it was also so popular that it was snapped up by the Comedy Network and, later, MTV.
In the early '00s, Green would break into Hollywood, starring in movies like Road Trip, Charlie's Angels and his pet project, Freddie Got Fingered. Soon after, the man who'd started out by spray-painting pornography onto the hood of his parents' car and rubbing himself in cheese pizza would get a leg-up in one of the most pretigious gigs in comedy.
Green was a guest host for the Late Show with David Letterman in 2003, and it brought the former shock comedian into the world of variety standup that he had loved since he was a kid. In the years since, Green has toured the world doing standup, but at the end of the month he'll be staying put in Las Vegas where he's taking up a comedy residency.
Today, Green joins Tom Power on the show to discuss his upcoming gig.
