Ottawa police are investigating an early Saturday morning fire in Vanier as arson and say it may be connected to other recent fires in the neighbourhood.
A fire in a two-storey home on 278 Shakespeare St. displaced four people, firefighters said.
Several people called 911 to report flames coming from that address 12:46 a.m., Ottawa Fire Services said in a news release.
Sgt. David Christie told CBC News police believe the fire is related to a series of fires on April 10 due to similar circumstances and the location.
The fire on Shakespeare Street started outside the buildings, like in those previous cases — this time, on the front porch.

When firefighters arrived they began to attack the fire from the front porch area. The flames had already reached the second floor and the attic, firefighters said.
Crews had to call extra trucks to the scene to help.
The fire was out shortly before 2 a.m.
Four people have been displaced, including a 25-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman who were at home at the time.
No one was injured, but the flames caused approximately $400,000 worth of damage.
Police are advising people in the area to bring garbage or recycling containers inside or place them out of sight since it appears the recent fires started in those bins.
