The longlist was selected by a team of readers, all published Canadian poets: Helen Hajnoczky, Liz Howard, Brent MacLaine, Sharon McCartney, Cassidy McFadzean, Guillaume Morissette, Soraya Peerbaye, Michael Prior, Jamaal Jackson Rogers and Rebecca Thomas.
The jury, which consists of Roo Borson, George Elliott Clarke and Erín Moure, will select the four finalists and the grand prize winner. The shortlist will be announced on Nov. 10 and the grand prize winner will be revealed on Nov. 16. The winning poet will receive $6,000 from the Canada Council for the Arts(external link), publication in Air Canada enRoute magazine(external link) and a 10-day writing residency at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity(external link).

The CBC Poetry Prize has been awarded annually since 1979. Past winners include Lorna Crozier, Alison Pick, Jeramy Dodds and Susan Musgrave.
