The Millennium Library in downtown Winnipeg shut its doors on Thursday after what police describe as a serious incident.

One male was taken to hospital in critical condition, said police.

Police confirmed the man died later Thursday.

Winnipeg Public Library said the city plans to reopen the facility on Friday.

No further details were immediately available.

Police are investigating.
