Ontario Education Minister Mitzie Hunter announced on Friday that Ontario's full-day kindergarten program has enrolled more than one million students since its inception in 2010.
Hunter addressed media at a Toronto elementary school.
She also claimed the program will have saved Ontario families an estimated $1 billion in child care costs by the end of this school year.
Since its launch in 2010, Ontario has invested $1.5 billion in school boards to build or renovate classrooms for full-day kindergarten, making it one of the largest investments in education in a generation.
