Acupuncturist Tiejun Huang, 51, was stabbed to death at a Calgary clinic in June
The Calgary man accused of killing a man he suspected to be having an affair with his wife was found mentally fit to stand trial on Friday.
Jin Qing Huang — who is charged with first-degree murder — underwent a 60-day forensic psychiatric assessment.
Police were called to the Perpetual Wellness Chinese Medical Centre in the Central Landmark building in June where they found acupuncturist Tiejun Huang, 51, stabbed to death.
Police say while Huang and the victim share a surname, they are not related.
At the time of his arrest, police said investigators believe the attack was motivated by the accused's belief that his wife was involved in an inappropriate relationship with the doctor.
Defence lawyer Ben Leung indicated he's requested additional disclosure from Crown prosecutor Trevor Fik.
Leung also noted that his client has no Chinese books and said that Huang's wife plans to drop some off in hopes they will be allowed to bring them to the Calgary Remand Centre.
Huang will be back in court on Sept. 29.
