Dorel Juvenile Canada recalls 12K strollers due to crash and fall risk

More than 200 injuries have been reported in the U.S. due to use of the strollers

Dorel Juvenile Canada has recalled 12,360 jogging strollers due to the risk of the front wheel coming loose or detaching, putting children at risk of crashing or falling, according to Health Canada(external link).
The strollers were sold between January 2010 and April 2016, under the following names:
  • Instep Safari TT Double Stroller — 01AR266CRED
  • Instep Safari TT Double Stroller — 01AR265
  • Instep Safari Delux Double Stroller — 01153CCWU
  • Instep Safari Swivel Wheel Jogging Stroller — 01AR180
  • Instep Free Wheeler Jogging Stroller — 01SC701
  • Schwinn Grand Safari Tandem Jogging Stroller — 04STAD12
The strollers all have a quick-release mechanism for removing and reattaching the front wheel.
In the U.S., there have been 132 reports of the front wheel suddenly coming loose, causing 215 injuries, including head injuries, sprains, lacerations, bumps, bruises and abrasions, according to Health Canada.
There have been no reports of injuries or incidents related to the strollers' use in Canada. The recalled strollers were sold in retail stores across Canada.
Consumers with the recalled strollers are advised to stop using them immediately and contact Pacific Cycle(external link) to obtain a free repair kit, which will convert the quick-release wheel to a traditional screw on/off attachment.
