Ottawa police are investigating two suspicious fires in Vanier that broke out within an hour of each other early Monday morning.
The first fire occurred at 293 Cyr Ave., a single-storey vacant house with a detached garage just off Montreal Road, at about 12:30 a.m, according to Ottawa's fire department.
Flames and smoke were coming from the house and the two-car garage was engulfed by fire.

2nd fire occurs just 3 blocks away
The second fire broke out at 318 Palace St. an hour later at 1:30 a.m.
The two-storey house with an attached garage also sits just off Montreal Road, three blocks west of Cyr Avenue where the first fire occurred.
People who called 911 told dispatchers the garage was on fire and that the home was vacant and for sale.
When firefighters arrived they saw that a shed and fence were also engulfed in flames.
Crews managed to get the flames under control within half an hour. No injuries were reported and an estimate on damage was not yet available Monday morning.
