An Australian child psychiatrist who faces child-porn charges after allegedly filming a boy in a West Edmonton Mall bathroom last month had hundreds of images and a dozen videos that were classified as "child exploitation" material, according to a report published in Perth Now.
Some images allegedly involved Aaron Voon filming young boys' genitals in public toilets, the Australian publication reported.
Voon, 41, was reportedly granted bail on Tuesday in Perth Magistrates Court, where prosecutors said police allegedly found that Voon's electronic devices contained 409 images and 12 videos deemed to be "child exploitation material."
Perth Now reported that the court was told many videos showed young boys urinating in public toilets. In one case, Voon allegedly followed a boy from a theatre lobby into the toilet and filmed the child urinating.
Edmonton police say Voon used a camera to record a 10-year-old boy in the washroom at the movie theatre in West Edmonton Mall on May 22. Voon was charged with possession of child pornography, making child pornography and voyeurism.
Last month, an Edmonton judge granted Voon bail with several conditions, including that he stay away from unaccompanied children.
In the days after Voon's arrest in Edmonton, armed with information provided by ALERT's Internet Child Exploitation team, police in Australia searched the psychiatrist's home and business, where they allegedly found "a number of images classified as child exploitation material."
Voon was arrested last month in Australia and charged with possession of child exploitation material.
Before his arrest, the psychiatrist worked at the Successful Development and Therapy Centre in Perth, where he treated hundreds of patients under the age of 10.
