Robert Ghiz takes new job in law firm

Robert Ghiz will provide business advice across sectors and countries
Former P.E.I. Premier Robert Ghiz has joined Gowling WLG, a Toronto and U.K.-based international law firm, as a senior business advisor.
In an email to CBC News, senior account executive Sarah Blazak said Ghiz will provide strategic business advice to the firm's clients across countries and sectors.
"I'm now ready to begin the next phase of my career in the private sector," said Ghiz in a news release from the company.
"I look forward to working with my new colleagues to help further our clients' business interests around the world."
8 years as premier
Ghiz was first elected as an MLA on P.E.I., and returned to the legislature as premier of P.E.I. in 2007. He won re-election in 2011, and stepped down as premier in February 2015.
Since leaving office Ghiz has worked as an independent business consultant, as well as spending time on the public speaking circuit.
Gowling WLG is a new international law firm created by the combination of Gowlings, a leading Canadian law firm, and Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co (WLG), a leading U.K.-based international law firm. The firm employs more than 1,400 legal professionals in 18 cities worldwide.
