RCMP in Iqaluit have charged a woman with attempted murder in relation to a shack fire on Friday night that left a man badly burned.
The fire department responded to the fire at about 8 p.m. that evening, and found a 49-year-old man suffering from severe burns.
He was brought to the Qikiqtani General Hospital and later medevaced to Montreal for treatment, according to an RCMP press release.
Police have now charged 23-year-old Qilluya Lucassie with attempt to commit murder and arson with disregard for human life. They've also charged Peter Sharky, 30, with assault, mischief and escape from lawful custody.
They're both scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
There's no word on the victim's condition. On Monday, Iqaluit's fire chief said the man was pulled out of the shack by someone passing by.
