City crew spotted early-morning blaze north of Coventry Hills
A suspicious fire in northeast Calgary has destroyed six decommissioned school buses.
A city roads crew driving past the scene reported flames at around 3:30 a.m. Monday at 144th Avenue and Sixth Street northeast, police say.
Fire crews quickly doused the flames, but all six buses were gutted.
The site north of Coventry Hills is a school bus storage area. Police say no injuries were reported.
"Firefighters confirmed that all of the damaged busses were previously decommissioned so there will be no impact on student transportation," officials said in a release.
Arson investigators have been called in. Traffic in the area is not affected.
