Winnipeggers are in for a mild holiday Monday with temperatures climbing well above normal, while those in the north brace for a blizzard.
Louis Riel Day will start off with a sun-cloud mix in Winnipeg before the clouds take over and bring a chance of flurries.
But it won't be anything close to what people in Churchill and York are facing. A deepening low pressure system is bringing winds of 50-70 km/h, Environment Canada forecasts.
Visibility will be reduced to 400 metres or less in blowing snow.
The blizzard conditions are expected to continue throughout the day before the system moves out in the evening.
