There could be some tricky driving and walking conditions early Thursday on P.E.I. as the day starts with snow flurries and freezing drizzle.
The precipitation should clear over the course of the morning, leaving a mix of sun and cloud for the day. The high will be about 1 C.
Overnight temperatures will rise and rain will start to fall. The temperature will get up to about 5 C by morning.
The rain will continue early Friday, tapering off to a few showers in the afternoon. Total rainfall will be 10 to 20 millimetres. The high will be close to 10 C.
On Saturday cold northwest winds will be accompanied by a mix of sun and cloud, but will also generate some flurries and perhaps snow squalls.
Sunday will remain chilly, but there should be more sunshine.
Next week appears likely to turn mild again with a rain system developing midweek, diminishing the hope for a white Christmas.
